Materials
-coffee filters
-clothes pins
-washable markers or water based markers (if it is not a water based marker, the ink will not spread)
-acrylic or tempera paint
-paint brush
-fine tipped black pen
-spray bottle with water
Instructions
1. Paint your clothes pin. When it is dry you can draw a face on it with a black pen.
2. Flatten out your coffee filter with your hands. Using markers, colour the coffee filter. You can play around with different patterns and colours. Here I am doing a swirled pattern for a tie-dye look. You don’t have to colour in all the white spots as the colour will spread out after you spray it with water.
3. Mist your coffee filter lightly with water. Do not over wet the filter or you will lose the vibrancy and opaqueness of the colours. Let it dry. Use a hair dryer to make this process go quicker.
4. Bunch up the coffee filter in the middle and place it into the clothes pin. Adjust if needed.
Annnd you are done! You can make different animals and creatures. Here’s an example of a bat using the same steps from above using different colours.
