SCYAP has a new employment and skills enhancement project called Urban Canvas Express. The program features 8 weeks of group based employability and life skills development at the SCYAP Art Centre and 12 weeks of off-site on-the-job employment. Included in the 8 weeks will be certificate attainment in CPR/First Aid, Food Safe and WHIMIS plus intensive work-readiness skills geared towards finding and keeping work in chosen locations. SCYAP is able to hold 2 Urban Canvas Express projects a year.
Currently we are looking for participants to fill the 15 positions available in our next intake starting in August 2019. Participants in UCE receive an hourly training allowance for up to a 35 hour work week over the course of the 20 weeks. Like our previous projects the perfect participant is between the ages of 16 and 30, not in school or working and has an interest in art. If you know a youth or are a youth who can benefit from employment and skills enhancement please contact SCYAP firstname.lastname@example.org. Funding made possible through the Ministry of Immigration and Training of the Saskatchewan Government.
