The SCYAP Art Gallery is pleased to feature emerging artist Anya Pekurovski. Anya has spent the last 2 years recreating the portraiture of Old Masters especially Rembrandt, trying to accurately depict the human form and its aesthetics. Her studies of the masters has deepened her understanding of the spirit behind contemporary portraiture. Her motivation behind portraying the human figure stems from an interplay of artistic themes and philosophical ideas — specifically the idea of representing the individual. Anya draws inspiration from contemporary portrait painter Benjamin Björklund. We should also mention that Anya was still in high school when she exhibited at the SCYAP Art Gallery.
